Like Walkin' On The Beach, Part II.....

This is my second blog about our experience with "earthing", the principle of electrically "grounding" the body for the purpose of reducing pain, sleeping better and such.  At this moment of writing (October 5, 2011), I have been using my earthing pad for exactly two months.  Am I sleeping more soundly and restfully?  YES, YES, YES.  Do I have less pain?  That answer is ALSO a YES.  (For the record, I didn't have much pain before I began using the pad, just a little shoulder and upper arm discomfort which bugged me when I tried to sleep.  That disappeared shortly after I began using the pad, and has not returned.)  By now, I've received a few testimonials from others.

Here's a testimonial from "Jean" (not her real name) of rural Marshall, MN.  Jean has had MS for many years, and nothing has seemed to help her very much.  She purchased an earthing pad about two weeks ago, and last week I received this from her:

"I bought an earthing pad on Monday, September 19, (2011) willing to give anything a try.  I have MS (many years duration) with lots of pain at times.  The first few nights (of using the pad) I did not sleep well, but in the morning my pain was not as bad.  Throughout the day, I had more energy and was more awake, which is unusual for me.  Now I have been using it for a week, and I find it works great!  I even cut down on (Natural) Calm (magnesium supplement) and also the turmeric I was taking for my pain.  It is surprising how well it works, and how simple it is to use.  Now I am sleeping much better, can almost go all night without waking up!"

I called the Earthing.com people to share this story, and was given an even more impressive story in return, about another MS patient:

A woman with MS, no longer able to walk, confined to a wheelchair, could not lift anything (she wanted to hold her grandchildren).  She was able to use an earthing mat for a period of 5 weeks, courtesy of a local chiropractor. Following “self treatment” for that period of time,  she was able to be out of her wheelchair, to walk, and to lift and hug her grandchildren!

I'm beginning to believe that MS patients might especially be able to benefit from the use of earthing.  (Our clinic is hosting an MS workshop on October 20, to expose MS patients to earthing and to see to what extent "earthing" works for a cross section of MS patients.  Call us at 507 629 3900 to learn more about the workshop.)  Now, here's a testimonial concerning benefits to arthritis pain:

"June" (not her real name): “I have been earthing for a few weeks. When I first became interested in earthing, my intention was to try to get help for insomnia.  I got the surprise of my life when I began to feel better in every part of my body. I have had arthritis for years and, in fact, have had both knees replaced. I can honestly say that I now have NO PAIN and feel the best I have in a very long time. The improvement in my health, in my opinion, is nothing short of astonishing. Getting up in the mornings was sometimes a struggle because of stiffness caused by the arthritis, but now I can jump out of bed and walk briskly to the kitchen to make my morning coffee.  Not only do I feel great physically, my ability to handle stress is also enhanced.  I urge everybody to give earthing a try. I think you will happy you did!"  (I didn't pay June a dime for this testimonial-- heck, with OUR budget, are you kidding??)

At this point in time, we have been supplying mats to client for two months, and we have ALSO been using earthing "patches" (think of the little conductive patches used for heart monitoring) for all energy therapy and some of the massage work by our massage therapist.  An example is the work we're doing with a lady who came to us with "Stage 4 breast cancer" a few weeks ago.  "Gertrude" (not her real name) has had several chemo treatments, which reduced the breast tumor to a manageable size (lemon down to a grape), so that we have some time to work with it.  When we do her energy work, Betsy does Reiki, I do Qigong, and we ground her by placing earthing patches on the Bubbling Springs acupuncture points on the soles of the feet (two) plus one more patch placed close to the location of the tumor in the breast tissue. I think it helps; we will know more as the treatment sessions continue.  The research is not there at this point.

NOW, are there any NEGATIVE reports?  Is there anyone for whom earthing does not seem to have helped? I have one report, from a couple who live near New Ulm, Minnesota, about 70 miles east of Tracy but also in the VERY DRY part of Minnesota (no rain whatsoever since July 1, 2011-- 3 months without a stitch of rain).  I called them to learn more, and while she seemed to be using the earthing pad correctly, I came to the conclusion that with the lack of rainfall, any "normal" grounding connection which their electrician had made when wiring their (fairly new) home was probably NOT nearly good enough for the almost  "desert" conditions of our area.  I recommended that they pound an 8 foot copper rod into the soil near the home, water the dickens out of it with about 20 gallons of water poured onto the soil near the rod, run a ground wire from the rod into the home, and THEN see how it works.  They agreed to do that, and we'll see what happens.  It is probably too much to hope for that this simple earthing technique will benefit EVERYONE who has pain, but it will be interesting to see which folks it DOES work for.  Batting average thus far seems pretty good.

If you should be interested in purchasing earthing devices, from a company which believe to be reliable, go to https://84.earthing.com  and see what they have to offer.  (Disclosure:  We do get a commission from the company when you go to this site; the materials cost the same as ordering elsewhere from another site, and it helps us pay the light bill.)  More later!
