At Helping To Heal, some of our work works nicely as a “class”. Student numbers range from just a few to 25, depending upon the time of year and the topic. Here are some that we are currently offering. (For dates and times, please call our clinic at (507) 629 3900.)

STRESS FREE/SMOKE FREE EZ with HYPNOSIS

  • Q. I want to quit using tobacco. I’m tired of the smell, the expense, the coughing, the CONTROL that tobacco has over me. Can you help?
  • A. We can, now that you are relatively sure that you are ready to quit.

  • Q. How long does it take? I’ve looked at medication plans, such as CHANTIX. They take several weeks, they’re expensive, and the success rate is only about 50% when you’re done. What kind of success is THAT? And, there are nasty side effects, like dying! Isn’t there an easier way to be smoke free, once and for all?
  • A. Our SMOKE FREE/STRESS FREE EZ with HYPNOSIS course takes only 5 hours, one evening. The success rate is high, there are very few if any side effects, and the cost is very reasonable. Do you want to learn more?

  • Q. YES! How can YOU do, in 5 hours or less, what doctors and their medications take so any weeks to do?
  • A. It helps to use hypnosis, which can clear out the old ways of thinking and help you put in new ways of functioning, very quickly. When it’s done with hypnosis, it is easy, painless, and usually very fast.

  • Q. Can anyone be hypnotized?
  • A. Yes, if they’re ready, and any misconceptions have been cleared away so that there is no fear. We spend a little time preparing them for the process.

  • Q. So, tell me about hypnosis. Is it like sleeping?
  • A. Not really. When you’re asleep, you’re asleep, you’re asleep, and you’re not aware of anything that is happening. In hypnosis, you are actually VERY aware of everything that is happening around you. Your vision, hearing, sense of touch--all the senses are more acute. That’s just one difference. It’s really a completely different state. Most folks love it!

  • Q. How do I become hypnotized?
  • A. It’s a matter of relaxing the body and the mind. It takes just a few minutes to do.

  • Q. And when I’m deeply relaxed, then what happens?
  • A. Let’s back up just a bit. Before you are hypnotized, we go over EVERYTHING that you would like to change. If you chew or smoke, we’ll talk about that. If there are other things you’d like to change, such as eliminating withdrawal effects such as weight changes, cravings, discomfort with friends who still smoke, that sort of thing, we discuss that beforehand, so that we’re both on the ‘same page’ for what you wish to do. It’s very important that we agree, because THE WHOLE HYPNOSIS PROCESS IS UNDER YOUR CONTROL, not mine! When we agree on what is to happen, it’s very easy to do, and hypnosis should never be done in any other way!

  • Q. I like that. Now, tell me about the STRESS part of the course....??
  • A. It’s like this: Some time ago, we discovered that while hypnosis does a wonderful job of helping clear away old habits and installing new ones, it’s not always enough when you have an unexpected major STRESS in your life. Perhaps a child gets sick, perhaps you lose a job. Those stresses can cause a person to fall off the wagon, unless you have other tools available to handle the stresses. That’s where the rest of this course comes in. We teach you, and let you practice, stress resolving methods, so that when stresses do happen, you’re prepared to deal with them.

  • Q. Methods such as...?
  • A. Special breathing techniques help resolve stress. Meditation helps to resolve stress. Special visualization methods help. Nutritional support helps, and EFT helps. (Learn about EFT on the EFT pages of our website!) These methods are well known to psychologists, but usually you have to pay extra to learn how to use them. In this course, we include them at no extra charge, just to be sure that you’re as ready to “deal with the world” as you need to be.

  • Q. So, with the stress I feel with my spouse, with my kids, with traffic, with the furnace that just went down, with the flat tire I had in the rain the other day.... I could be better equipped to handle all of that!
  • A. And be much healthier to boot! Stress may be responsible for a LARGE FRACTION of our illnesses.

  • Q. Cool! What does the course cost?
  • A. About the same as two cartons of cigarettes. All materials are furnished. And it’s “guaranteed”. If for some reason it doesn’t work for you the first time, you can retake it free of charge.

  • Q. How do I register?
  • A. Simply call our front desk at (507) 629 3900. You’ll be glad you did! Tell your boss about it also. She or he may be willing to help to pay part of the cost, because when you are “smoke free” and know how to handle Life’s stresses, you’ll be far more productive on the job!

  • STRESS FREE/WEIGHT FREE EZ with HYPNOSIS

  • Q. A friend told me I should check out your STRESS FREE/WEIGHT FREE EZ with HYPNOSIS program. I’m not so worried about how I look, but I don’t want to get diabetes or heart problems. My problem is that I have absolutely no will power! Do I have to starve to lose weight?
  • A. We think about weight loss differently from most doctors. When we first began looking into the subject, the first thing we learned is that when people do go on diets to lose weight, what works for one person, frequently does NOT work for another. Not only are our fingerprints and our faces unique, we are even more unique beneath the skin. Your stomach, your liver, your whole biochemistry are unique to your body!

  • Q. So how do I find out what foods are best for me to eat, to get rid of this extra weight?
  • A. This is not an exact science. If it were, we’d all be as slim as we say we want to be! We often start with something as simple as your blood type. There is also the matter of your Inner Wisdom...

  • Q. Will all of this help me determine which foods I should eat and which I should avoid?
  • A. We help you get started with lists of such foods. You’ll become aware of how you react to certain foods, and begin to tailor your eating to what really works best for your body. A little later, as you eliminate the “emotional blocks” which skew your eating, you’ll become even more attuned to what works best for your unique biology.

  • Q. So, what works for my spouse is not necessarily what works best for me!
  • A. Yes. Remember it’s better now, BEFORE serious dis-ease conditions show up, than later...!

  • Q. If I “eat correctly” for me, will this help me to be healthier?
  • A. When you are eating correctly for your unique needs, good things tend to happen for your general health, such as improvements in serum cholesterol, overall energy and a lowering of insulin level in the bloodstream. The changes are sometimes quite rapid....

  • Q. I really hate starving. When I start choosing different foods, do I have to get a diet scale and eat these little bird sized portions of everything to get to my weight goal?
  • A. Actually, the idea is that when you eat correctly, you naturally tend to go to the weight which is right for you. Now, understand that this doesn’t mean that everyone who eats “correctly” for their own body will go to the weight of a Hollywood starlet. That is often unhealthy. We’re aiming for good health, not a fashion contest!

  • Q. I can buy that. What about exercise? I’ve never been good at exercise; it’s just so boring!
  • A. Yes, but the health benefits are large. Covert Bailey, one of America’s foremost fitness experts, has said, “..Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve noticed that fit people can do things that unfit people can’t...We’re born with a fabulous machine that is able to repair itself almost like magic.... Imagine owning a car that tuned itself up every time you drove it! Your wonderful body will run better and better the more you exercise it. I think exercise can cure almost everything!” (”Smart Exercise”, Houghton Mifflin, 1994)
  • We urge our clients to do exercise which is safe for them to do. If the client realizes that she should exercise but just doesn’t want to do it, she can change her habits by using EFT or other means. Both for overall health and for weight loss, the right amount of exercise is a good thing to do. At our new clinic, the entire second floor is reserved for exercise- Tai Chi for seniors, martial arts for teens, and yoga and Qigong for all ages...

  • Q. If I have an emotional block, that may have come from years ago, which is in the way of the progress I want to make, how do I get rid of it?
  • A. The tool we use is “EFT”, which is a form of energy psychology. It works quite fast, and is painfree and long lasting. We can usually clear a specific issue in 20 minutes or less.

  • Q. Now, I’m curious about the hypnosis you use as a last step in the weight release program. How does it work?
  • A. We have a separate brochure for this, but briefly, once you know what you want to do for achieving your weight goal, hypnosis helps to make sure the subconscious is on board with what you want to do. When you’re hypnotized, it’s like you are deeply, gently relaxed, and we can then help you put in the new ways of behaving that you’ve decided you want to use. Remember that hypnosis is always under YOUR CONTROL. The hypnotist is the coach, but YOU decide what you wish to change.
  • We always discuss everything that you want to do, so everybody’s in agreement about what is to happen. Hypnosis is very safe and gentle, with long lasting effects for your highest good. It’s been around for a long time, uses no drugs, no needles, and is free of side effects. Hypnosis is one of the most powerful, gentle tools in use anywhere today.

  • Q. OK... what are the steps I follow in your program?
  • A. First, check with your family MD, so that he or she is comfortable with your weight goal. That’s essential. Then we begin. You’ll be providing some basic health information which we ask of all clients, plus additional details which help identify your special needs, such as thyroid function and other factors.
  • We then look at the foods which seem right for your body type and those you should avoid. You’ll also learn to use your Inner Wisdom, to check individual foods.

    Emotional issues are next--unresolved emotional “blocks” can prevent you from doing what you want to do. We usually use a special form of energy psychology for this, called “EFT”. The emotional work is usually done privately with each client, on a case by case basis. EFT works rapidly AND gently. (You won’t go through many Kleenex when we resolve emotional issues with EFT. )

  • Q. What’s next, after I “clean out my emotional closets”?
  • A. Next, we help you use visual imagery, to ensure that your “inner self” is comfortable with the goal you wish to achieve. Some folks, even when they’ve lost all the weight they wanted to lose, still think of themselves as being “fat”. That’s unnecessary and self defeating. We can change that...
  • Q. And the hypnosis is the last step in the program?
  • A. Yes. After the class work, we still expect you to keep a daily journal of foods eaten, exercise and other homework, and to keep in touch with us, so that we can be comfortable that you’re staying with the program and doing what we want you to do. FOLLOWUP is very important with achieving your weight (and life) goals.
  • Most of our weight loss work takes at least 3 hours, but usually less than 6 hours to accomplish. Usually we spread this out over several weeks, for there are changes you’ll be making in your habits, and this takes a little time. After the basic instruction, you’ll know what to do and can set about doing it. It will take time when done right. Weight loss at a rate of a pound per week is usually considered safe.

    Now, weight loss work is not cheap. It is, however, MUCH cheaper than the cost of the medical bills if you don’t release that weight! If you take the class with others, it will cost you about $200, for six hours of learning and practicing. Done individually, it will be a bit more, depending upon where you are when you start. You will also need to invest some of your time, doing reading, exercises, and other homework. In order for healing to be effective, we believe that both client and therapist must contribute to the process.

    NOW, as to the benefits: We predict that you will have a better self image, lower blood pressure and cholesterol, be less prone to cancer and heart disease, be more physically fit, and be more able to do the things you want to do. That’s a pretty high return on your investment!
